How to check if your phone supports eSIM (any phone)
Even if your model is not listed, you can confirm eSIM support in under a minute:
iPhone
- Open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular).
- If you see Add eSIM or Add Data Plan, your iPhone supports eSIM.
- iPhone XS, XR and newer support eSIM. iPhones bought in mainland China use dual physical SIMs and do not have eSIM.
Android (Samsung, Pixel and others)
- Open Settings → Connections (Samsung) or Network & internet (Pixel).
- Tap SIM manager or SIMs and look for Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
- Or dial *#06#: if an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, your phone has an eSIM.
Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked to use a travel eSIM. A phone still tied to a home-carrier contract may block other networks.

What phones are compatible with a travel eSIM?
Most flagship phones released since late 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and recent foldables. Support can vary by region and carrier, so confirm in your phone settings or by dialling *#06# and looking for an EID number.
Does my iPhone support eSIM?
Every iPhone from the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR (2018) onward supports eSIM. The main exception is iPhones bought in mainland China, which use two physical SIMs instead. US iPhone 14 models and newer are eSIM-only with no physical SIM tray.
Does my Samsung phone support eSIM?
The Galaxy S20 series and newer, the Note 20 series, and Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip foldables support eSIM. Samsung eSIM support varies by region and carrier more than Apple, so check Settings then SIM manager for an Add eSIM option.
Does my Google Pixel support eSIM?
Google Pixel 3 and newer support eSIM. A few Pixel 3 and 3a units sold by specific carriers or in certain countries (such as Australia, Japan, Taiwan and South East Asia) shipped without eSIM, so confirm in Settings.
My phone is not listed. Can I still use an eSIM?
Possibly. Our list covers common models, not every phone. Check your device directly: look for Add eSIM in your mobile or SIM settings, or dial *#06# and see if an EID appears. If it does, your phone supports eSIM.
Does my phone need to be unlocked for a travel eSIM?
Yes. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. A phone locked to a home carrier may refuse other networks, including a travel eSIM. You can ask your carrier to unlock it, usually free once any contract or device payment is complete.
